Herstories: Bearer of Realizations

Realizations come to me from every experience,
As often as an order is made at a McDonald's drive-thru.
The first one was that it wouldn't be as easy to conquer the world with optimism,
As I had thought.
Some call that the beginning of female adolescence.
I miss that feeling and keep reminding myself to remember the little girl who didn't let negativity get to her.
The girl who always focused on her goals and lived life to its fullest potential.
Some of my most memorable realizations are that I realized who my best friends were.
They weren't people from school or family friends.
They were and still are my sister, mother and father…and most if all God!
For if anyone has loved me for ALL that I am it is them.
And if anyone has taught me that I am worth loving it was them.
They have motivated me to become the better person that I aim to be everyday.
To know what I want.
To know who I am and to be proud of it.
It's funny though, it's the painful stuff that made me realize.
As horrible as it felt at the time.
The negative body image.
The self-esteem issues.
The loss of my strong identity.
I allowed them to become transparent for a while.
The experiences are useless to us if we don't learn from them and make them productive parts of our lives.
These realizations made me the person that I am today
As quoted from M. Laurence they've "formed me, and continue to do so."
We are the bearers of our realizations.
