Tips for Healthier Weight Loss
by Carolyn Woodall
It’s the New Year and after indulging in goodies galore during the holiday season many of us turn our attention to losing those few extra pounds. Although the gym is one solution, why not try a lifestyle change instead? Here are a few quick tips on how to start a weight loss regime.
Speak to your doctor
Your family physician can help you develop a weight loss plan that is safe and effective, along with monitoring your health throughout the process.
Balance your meals
Eat a variety of foods including whole grains, fruits, vegetables and proteins to ensure you get all your daily nutrients
Breakfast is key!
Don’t skip meals! Eat breakfast every day. One aspect to healthy weight loss is eating smaller meals throughout the day, including breakfast.
Have a few limits
Limit your daily intake of foods high in saturated fat, cholesterol, sodium or sugar. Foods containing large amounts of these elements are often low in nutritional value and high in calories.
Exercise!
Forget diet plans that promise great results with little effort. Exercising for 30 minutes a day, along with a balanced diet can help you lose weight and maintain that weight loss.
